  • It is worth taking the tour just to be told the history of the winery: it all began with grandfather Giovanni Battista Cantele, who lived and worked as a wine merchant in Veneto. For work, he moved to Imola, where he met the love of his life, Teresa Manara.
  • With his wife, he often went to Puglia to choose the wine to bring to the north of Italy. The 1950s were the years of the boom in migration from the south to the north, but Teresa, after seeing Lecce, never forgot the sun, the land, the scents, so she convinced her husband to move there, with their children , Augustus and Domenico.
  • The adventure of the Cantina Cantele began with them in 1979.
  • Cantele has the merit of having brought the tradition of white wine to a region known for red wine and was the first winery to produce a white wine fermented in wooden barrels like in California, thanks to the foresight of Augusto, who in the meantime had become oenologist.
  • Today it is Augusto's sons, Gianni and Paolo, and Domenico's sons, Umberto and Luisa, who produce quality wine and organize tastings, tours, cooking classes and thematic evenings in the cellar.
  • We recommend the tour with Claudia, receptionist, and Paolo Cantele to discover the technicalities related to the production of wine in barriques and obviously we suggest trying the Teresamanara wine: a tribute to the woman who changed the destiny of a family, bold and enterprising in a time when great feats were reserved for men.
  • Today the name of Teresa Manara accompanies the selection of Chardonnay, Negroamaro and Primitivo in the cellar.
  • One day's notice is enough to immerse yourself in the synaesthetic experience of the Cellar, starting from €15 up to a maximum of €60 depending on whether you request only the tour with wine tasting or an aperitif, a gourmet brunch or a tasting lunch of 4 courses.
  • Open from Tuesday to Friday for lunch upon reservation. BOOK EASILY FROM THE BUTTON BELOW.
  • Languages spoken: Italian, English, French, German.
